As a photographer I want to continually challenge myself to improve and perfect my craft. I have noticed lately that I have been editing all my pictures in a very similar manner. While I treat each one as its own unique piece of art, I found that my steps were all similar and it was being monotonous. I challenged myself to edit the same picture 5 different ways over the course of 5 days. Cleverly, I am calling it 5 Days 5 Ways. I am going to try and pick one picture each week and edit it in 5 different styles. No matter how it turns out (if I love it or hate it) I am going to keep it and blog about it.
My first image was from a workshop I took in NYC called the Big Apple 2018. The photoshoot we did on Sunday was inspired by children of the French Revolution. I picked a picture that I thought had the capability of being transformed in a variety of different ways. I didn't realize, however, how difficult it would be by the fourth and fifth day to come up with completely different ways to transform the look and feel of the image. There are definitely a few that I love and one or two that I'm not too crazy about but I'll let you be the judge of them.
While I don't love them all, the journey that I have been on a photographer in South Jersey over the last 2 years amazes me as I look back on my work. I did not have the skill set I possess today that I had a little under two years ago. I am proud of what I have accomplished and hope that you can open your memories to me and allow me to capture images that you can cherish for years to come.
